The Explorer Scout Section is the oldest of the training sections for the Scout Movement, The section is for young persons of both sexes aged 14 to 18 years.

Although the section is district based and managed by the District Explorer Scout Commissioner (DESC) in East Surrey we have split into three separate satellite sections.

An Explorer Scout section does not need to be group based and can be formed at any location for any reason, I.e. a service team at a camp site, or a group of Scouts who want to get together and put on a Scout show. A scout therefore does not have to remain with his group and can join any Explorer Scout section.

Any young person aged 14-18 who is working with any section of the Scout movement whether or not they are an Explore Scout must be registered with the DESC as part of The Explorer Scout Young Leader Section to ensure they are covered by the appropriate Insurance and receive the necessary training and support.
